  • Can I get a guarantee?
    We supply a 10 year NZCB Residential Guarantee for new build and renovation projects.
  • What is the payment schedule?
    The payment schedule is Progress payments on the practical completion of each stages.
  • How long will it take to build ?
    The BC process can take up to 4-9 weeks, This is all dependent on the complexity of the consents required, you should allow 4-7 months from the time you receive your plans to the construction completion.
  • Do I need to sign a contract?
    Yes , We will provide you with a comprehensive NZCB building contract . This ensures we are both protected .
  • What type of contracts are there?
    A : Fixed price contract This type of contract can offer certainty at the start of your build. However, it is important to know that the contract price can change, there is no way to get a contract with every element fixed, and you need to pay more to cover builder's risk. ​ B: Cost & Mark-up We prefer our client sign this type of Cost & markup contract, you will get estimated sum of what the build will cost, you will be invoiced weekly or fortnightly for labour, materials, sub-contractors, and with an agreed builder’s margin added on top. This offers more transparency as you know exactly where your money is being spent. ​ For both fixed-price and cost& markup contracts, we provide you with a detailed scope of work to comply BC specification. ​
  • Which contract should I choose?
    If controlling your budget is important to you, a fixed-price contract may be a better option to controlling your budget as you will know from the outset how much your build will cost. However, builders will often add a sum for contingencies in a fixed price contract to allow for any unexpected or unknown issues that may occur during the construction progresses period. ​ If you would like to have more flexibility to make changes, then a cost& markup contract will be a best option. You only pay for the labour and materials that are used as your build progresses. So, if the project progresses smoothly, you will benefit from it.
  • How can I keep my build on budget?
    The best way to control your budget is to choose a good builder, ZDH builders is most suitable for you.
